Domasi College student murdered
Forty-year-old student of Domasi College of Education Alex Mazungwi was found dead closer to the school in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased was a third-year student pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education at the college and was reportedly murdered by unknown people, according to a statement from the police in Malawi’s Eastern Region district of Zomba.
The statement read that the deceased went with his colleague for a drinking spree on Saturday night at Songani Trading Centre.
“The deceased met his fate when he was coming back to school from Songani at around 9pm on 24th May 2014. Upon reaching a place called Anganga Mumbe, Alex in the company of his fellow student met with a group of unknown people who attacked them,” read the statement.
Alex is reported to have fallen unconscious and suffered severe injuries after he was hit by a wooden stick on the head.
The deceased comes from Chiudza Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chiwere in Dowa.
