Achi… (name lost in image on my device) should read the questions raised towards the end of the article to see why there is concern. His or her analysis is ridiculous.

Europeans benefit from our poverty, its a huge industry for them. They are never happy when landmark projects that improve people’s lives are implemented. They like ‘teaching us’ on virtually everything as if we are a people without brains. Look, China has just been around for less than 10 years yet its impact on our lives is much more than that of these colonizers. By the way, there is no a thing as good governance. It all depends on whose interests one is trying to fulfill. Akanakhala mzungu apa bwenzi all this noise isn’t there.

Why? But Why? Donors hate African countries to breakthru in any way. They here demonise this great project, and they now use our very so called learned africans in the likes of Wiyo to tell the nation that the project will do more harm to our nation. Is there no such big project in their country? Wiyo and u donor, the situation of every rural Malawian u claim to be concerned about is more pathetic and worse than the threat and harm that can come around due to such a project u are trying to demonise. Wiyo, are u serious… Read more »

I think u have misquoted Wiyo. Read through the passages once more and get the real messege. I have understood them better. You lake Malawi argument on its existence without a feasibility study, I think that calls for more Geography, and the many related lessons other than expressing those shocking arguments.

Look at some of the faces of the dignitaries . You can see that they don’t like it when the truth is being said. They think that, when in power they can do things the way they want. Putting aside the welfare of the country for personal gain. Why then are there rules and regulation on how things should be done ?

Malawi’s development potential is huge yet landing in the unfortunate hands of non-patriotic politicians. This is a small country with complex socio – political nexus. The moral campus is lost despite a critical mass of educated individuals. Today, individuals who talk against corruption are perceived to be strangers in their own workplaces. The commitment of political leadership to fight against corruption is cosmetic to say the least.
