Dowa people hail Ministry of Hope mobile clinic

Communities   in the area of Traditional Authority Nsakambewa in Dowa District have hailed a mobile clinic being spearheaded by ministry of hope, saying the clinic helps many people to easily access medical attention.

Ministry of hope Medical Director, Mwawi Nyirongo said they decided to start providing a mobile clinic after observing that the community has no health center and that people had to travel long distances in order to access medical attention.

“After doing our research we found out that many people here were facing different challenges to access healthcare services, some places have health centers but they don’t provide enough medications and that other villages are very far from these health facilities, therefore we decided to introduce a mobile clinic which comes once in every month to serve the people,” she said

Nyirongo also asked government to provide a permanent healthcare, saying due to lack of resources they cannot manage to build a permanent hospital as requested by people in the area.

According to Chief Khwamba, despite that the clinic is held once in a very month, people in the area are able to receive healthcare services when they get sick and that they get enough drugs comparing to government hospitals which cannot easily be accessed in the area due to long distances.

Chief Khwamba said the clinic has provided Comprehensive, cultural competent and quality primary health care services to communities and vulnerable populations and has since appealed to government to consider the area by providing permanent health center.

Isaac Mlerakwacha of Mankhokwe village said the clinic is playing a big role in helping saying it has reduced long distances people in the area were covering in accessing medical services.

“We don’t have any hospital nearby so when we are not feeling good it is always very difficult to travel for a long distance to seek medical attention in Mtengowanthenga, Mponera and neighboring district of Ntchisi,” Mlerakwacha complained.

Some of the villages benefiting from the clinic are Samu, Kaziputa, Khwamba, Ching’ambe, Kajawa, Kachipesu, Mphambathemba, Mwansambo, Mankhokwe, Nkoonako and Mphamba chingondo among others.

Ministry of Hope is the Organization which started in 1990 and it provides spiritual and physical help to many people.

The ministry has Crisis Nursery which looks after children who lost their mothers ranging from 24 hours to 1 year old.

It also sponsors different people to go further with education and has several feeding centers in Lilongwe, Dowa and Mzuzu.
