District governor for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Mzimba, Edward Gondwe has resigned.
Gondwe said he decided to throw the towel because there is confusion in the district party politics as some officials are ignoring elected party committees and instead making parallel party committees.
“I have tried to do all I can to help out but it seems this confusion is being encouraged by top party officials and I have no option but resign,” said Gondwe.
The party has promptly responded to the resignation by appointing John Nyirenda as district governor,DPP Secretary General Ecklen Kudontoni confirmed.
Gondwe has not said which political party he will be joining but his resignation is a tip in ice berg which shows all is not well at DPP grassroot politics.
President Peter Mutharika said on Friday he will strengthen the party further to ensure that the opposition languish in opposition for the next 20 years.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
