DPP’s orator Saonda back as Chief of Protocol after conviction

Ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) executive member George Saonda  is back into his lucrative office as chief of protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International corporation after being convicted.

Saonda: Back in office
Saonda: Back in office

Saonda was arrested in December this year for allegedly extorting money from
South African business tycoon. He is also alleged to have duped the banks and he was later convicted.

Chief Secretary George Mkondiwa in February confirmed to Nyasa Times that indeed Saonda was arrested but he did not divulge more information.

However our investigations on the matter indicate that Saonda is back at his same office, doing protocol for the Malawi Leader.

Saonda of ‘Sesa, Joyce Sesa’ fame has not been in the public especially on the Presidential functions from December this year.

Police were elusive to give information on reasons for arrest thereby giving room to speculation.

Saonda came to limelight when he castigated Malawi Congress Party President and People’s Party leader Dr Joyce Banda during the President Peter Mutharika campaign rallies.

Most Malawians described the appointment of Saonda as appeasement after he worked had during the 2014 campaign.

This is another litmus test for Peter Mutharika to prove to Malawians that he indeed want to fight corruption head on since it will be very difficult for Malawians to believe him as genuine corruption fighter if he continues shielding the wrong doers for political patronage.

Do you still believe Muthalika can fight corruption when He himself is corrupt? Lets be serious and not pretend. A Malawi timadikira Mpaka zifike povuta zinthu. We have to read people’s minds. This president doesnt have any interest to turn things around. We are wasting our time if We keep on taming our patience on useless leaders.

I WILL NEVER EMBRACE THESE REFORMS IF THE LEADERS THEMSELVES ARE NOT WALKING THE TALK.

I CALL UPON ALL CONCERNED TO IGNORE THOSE REFORMS AS NOBODY IS READY TO IMPLEMENT THEM. OPC SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FORE-FRONT CHAMPIONING THE RFORMS.
