The corps recovered well from their 2-1 loss to Red Lions on Saturday at the Zomba Community Centre ground.

A win against Wizads was the first win for Eagles since the second round started.

They have drawn four times lost once and win once in the second round.

Phillip Masiye and Gregory Nachipi were on target for the Area 30 based police corps.

The win came barely a day after Team Manager Gabriel Chirwa sent a warning shot that people should not completely count them out of contention for the league title.

Chirwa insisted they will put an extra gear inorder to do better and try as much as possible to win all their remaining.

With the win, Blue Eagles have squeezed themserves to third place and they are tied on 39 points with Nyasa Big Bullets who on Saturday hammered bottom placed MTV Max Bullets 3-0.

At the Mzuzu Stadium in the Northern Region, Mafco FC failed to recover from their Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Mzuni to collect three points ontop of fellow soldiers Moyale Barracks as they were humbled 2-0.

The game had to be stopped for some minutes following disagreements that erupted after a Mafco player was shown marching orders.

Mafco have dropped to fourth position and they have 38 points from 21 games.

At the Civo Stadium, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers failed to complete their dream of collecting maximum six points in their central region tour following a 2-1 loss to Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday at the Civo Stadium.

Harvey Nkacha scored both goals for the soldiers while substitute Khumbo Ng’ambi scored the consolation goal for the Nomads.

K.B are stuck and remain unmoved on position five with 37 points from 21 games.

The log table is likely to change on Monday as six teams will be in action.

Silver can maintain the top spot if they beat Epac FC while Nyasa Big Bullets stand a chance of overtaking the Bankers only if they can beat Zomba based soldiers Red Lions and pray that Silver loses or draw against Epac.

Meanwhile, Karonga United, Dwangwa United and MTV Max Bullets remain in the relegation zone with 18, 16 and eight points respectively.
