Effective prayer: How to…

Prayer is communing with God and if it is without sincere desire or soul or Spirit in it then it is a fruitless prayer. Many have been persistently taught that prayer consists in asking God for some personal need we have lost. This kind of prayer only turns one into praying beggar.prayer

God is Spirit in whom we “live, and move, and have our being.” We are the offspring of this Spirit hence we are capable of making conscious contact with Him by turning our attention away from material things and thinking about Spirit.

Prayer is more than just asking God for help in this physical world but it is the opening up in our soul to commune with Him. This is seeking first his kingdom and all things are added to us in this attitude.

The Bible tells about the many times Jesus Christ separated Himself to pray. “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (Mathew 26:36). I took a moment to ask myself that if Jesus Christ took time to pray, how much for us?

Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees aligning himself with the Father. This is an good example of an effective.

Jesus taught about prayer saying: “And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily they have their reward” (Mathew 6:5). This is just telling us that God will not answer this kind of hypocritical prayer but explained further on answered prayer. Mathews 6:6 reads: “But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. The word closet does not mean a physical closet, but draw within your inner man by disconnect yourself from everything else material to enjoy Him in the Holy of Holies. This means that you are not praying a prayer for show, but making God’s interests your own, which assures that He will also make our interest His own.

Take note that you can fast 40 days, cry day and night wanting God to do something to your situation; but unless you understand how to pray in the secret place your mountain will remain standing refusing to move and be cast into the sea. God seeks a personal relationship with you and that communion is expressed in prayer. You talk and wait upon him by being still to hear Him talk back. If do not learn how to pray, all so called prayers are nothing but rumblings before Him.

@Popano, I think what they are doing is teach the people not the way you are looking at it. Remember that God also said My people are perishing because of lack of knowledge. Better to be told even though it may scare me than to live in ignorance.

But God is Love and I believe if you do not know how to pray he will still answer you, perhaps the most important thing is faith in him. Please do not scare people because in the process of praying in this case wrongly, you might commune with your God. Through practise you perfect your art not so?

  8. Kikikiki says:

Surely Prayer does not change God. He’s God and will never change. But it will only change things. So let’s commune more with the greater one who lives in us than the one who lives,in the world. Glory!

  20. Mlolo says:

Do we commit sins in the moment that we pretend to show our love to him a lone????whos gonna accept our prayers if we miss on the way jesus taught us on how to pray??indeed our prayers shall turn to be rumblings before Lord. Is it prayers are only dancing in the churches or cheating prople by following our lusts and vices of hearts for worldly gains.lets take what Jesus(may peace and salutations of almighty Lord be upon him)if we follow what jesus did, how he did it, and trying our best to do how he did it thus without destorting any word/statement/meaning or date, God will reward us the goodness in the hereafter.i ask almighty Lord to protect every single of us.and make us amongest those whom when they hear the message of Lord they obey by practicing it.amen
