Prayer is communing with God and if it is without sincere desire or soul or Spirit in it then it is a fruitless prayer. Many have been persistently taught that prayer consists in asking God for some personal need we have lost. This kind of prayer only turns one into praying beggar.
God is Spirit in whom we “live, and move, and have our being.” We are the offspring of this Spirit hence we are capable of making conscious contact with Him by turning our attention away from material things and thinking about Spirit.
Prayer is more than just asking God for help in this physical world but it is the opening up in our soul to commune with Him. This is seeking first his kingdom and all things are added to us in this attitude.
The Bible tells about the many times Jesus Christ separated Himself to pray. “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (Mathew 26:36). I took a moment to ask myself that if Jesus Christ took time to pray, how much for us?
Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees aligning himself with the Father. This is an good example of an effective.
Jesus taught about prayer saying: “And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily they have their reward” (Mathew 6:5). This is just telling us that God will not answer this kind of hypocritical prayer but explained further on answered prayer. Mathews 6:6 reads: “But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. The word closet does not mean a physical closet, but draw within your inner man by disconnect yourself from everything else material to enjoy Him in the Holy of Holies. This means that you are not praying a prayer for show, but making God’s interests your own, which assures that He will also make our interest His own.
Take note that you can fast 40 days, cry day and night wanting God to do something to your situation; but unless you understand how to pray in the secret place your mountain will remain standing refusing to move and be cast into the sea. God seeks a personal relationship with you and that communion is expressed in prayer. You talk and wait upon him by being still to hear Him talk back. If do not learn how to pray, all so called prayers are nothing but rumblings before Him.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
