Jamaican artist to record with local musicians
Jamaican best selling artist Bri-Yah-Naan Thompson is reported to be interested and planning to visit Malawi to record albums with some country’s musicians.
Kingston-Based singer is currently in Zambia completing recording albums for a number of Zambian artists and is interested to visit Malawi to conduct similar programmes.
In an email from Times of Zambia Arts reporter, the Jamaican singer is interested to record will some of artists in the country after listening to Lucius Banda’s track Tisungane which features another Zambian singer Leo Moyo fondly known as K’millian .
Banda’s song is enjoying maximum airplay on Zambia’s radio stations.
Brian has worked with the likes of Maxi Priest, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Chaka Demus and Saun Paul is also in Zambia to raise money for charity towards Nyumba Yanga Homes of Joy and is about to start projects for other singer like CQ, Cactus Agony, Leo Muntu, Runnel, Mainza and Tasila Mwale.
Commenting on the development, musicians Star Marley and Annie Matumbi says they will grab the opportunity to work with skilful international artists from the dancehall circles.
“Those chances are rare and if he can come in the country we will make it possible to meet him on the deal and it is my hope that the move will benefit tremendously to the music industry”, said Matumbi.
However, Marley said at least a smile is born out of the needed exposure to the international avenues with the development.
“As you are aware it is of my interest to work with a number of artists from Jamaica but seems chances were not available but I hope my dreams will come true,” said the youthful artists who on record to have said he is bound for Jamaica to record an album.
Reggae singer, Limbani Banda of Yankho likadzafika fame once recorded with another Jamaican star Jessie Jenda.
