Malawi beauty queen sounds SOS to participate at Miss World
The reigning Miss Malawi Ella Kabambe has appealed to the corporate world and all well wishers in the country to financially support her to participate at the Miss World 2010 in China.
Miss World 2010, the 60th Miss World pageant, will be held on October 30 at Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, People’s Republic of China.
The event is said to be the biggest Miss World pageant ever with the participation of about 125 girls from all over the world, and all Miss World titleholders from the past are invited to take part.
But three months ahead of the world beauty pageant, the 22-year-old Miss Malawi disclosed in an exclusive interview with Nyasa Times, there are no finances to facilitate both the trip and her stay in the East Asian country.
“I need help with air ticket, accommodation and clothing,” appealed Ella, who when asked how much she requires to cover the expenses, she said: “the organizers haven’t given me the figures yet… but they will soon”.
She added: “It’s my appeal to the corporate world and all well-wishers to support me because this is an opportunity for Malawi to be represented and exposed further at such global event.”
Ella, who holds degree in Social Science from Chancellor College, University of Malawi (Unima) was crowned Miss Malawi 2009 on December 13. She is currently working for Universal Industries as a brands Supervisor for Confectionery,
Her modeling career dates back in the days she was in secondary school. Before she won the Miss Malawi title, she was Miss Schools when she was at New Era Girls Secondary School and the second princess for Miss Unima.
Miss Malawi is run by Access Multimedia, and in a related development, the institution is this Friday evening launching the Miss Malawi website http://www.missmalawi.com/ at an event that will take place at The Shack in the capital city.
To start at 6:30pm, the event will be spiced up by music from FM 101 deejays including DJ Lomwe, DJ Panther and DJ Chinga as well as Chrissie Tafadzwa Kanjira as the MC. Hip-hop artists Barry One and AB will also perform alongside singers Yesaya & Wizayimes of “Stutter” and “Shasha” fame.

Koma aMalawi nsanje bwanji, let Ella use her opportunity to do what she can. going to the miss World does not automatically make one a winner, infact does that mean that all the 125 contestants are going to win the title? By participating in the competition alone Ella will be in a good position to learn alot of things and who knows she might be able to shape the Miss Malawi competition better later on in life. she is intelligent and she knows that just to participate in the world pageant will boost her CV because she can be trusted to organise international events (events management)becaue she will have hands on experience. inuyo amene mukuchedwa ndi kunyoza mukhala choncho chonsecho mulibenso choti mungaloze mmoyo mwanumo. taikanitu zinthunzi zani tione ngati anthu sititsamwa. wake up malawians, its high time you look for opportunities rather than Pulling Her Down (PHD)chonsecho munathawira pa windo la sitandede 7B. to Ella yesetsa upite ukaphunzire zatsopano akukunenawa udzawalembeleko iwowo pamodzi ndi ana awo ntchito.

The girl is incredibly unnattractive and has an awful weave. Is this truly the best we have? I have seen more beautiful women in villages with natural hair and no excessive make up. Be yourself. You don’t stand a chance with that horrible hair and white make up. No wonder you have no sponshership.
