Ngati Mafunde star in London concert with Soldier
Singer Kenny Gilmore of Ngati Mafunde music fame will share the stage with Malawi’s music icon Lucius ‘Soldier’ Banda on July 5 in London.
Gilmore confirmed to Nyasa Times that he will be backed by a London based band of Malawians and Congolese called the Zong Zing all stars at the Hootananny club in Brixton – 95 Effra Road Brixton, SW2 1DF.
The show which starts at 6pm to 1am costing at £10 will be a “special Independence day party” for the Malawians in London.
Gilmore explained the directions to the venue – exit tube station, turn left, first left on Efra and find it on your left red building.
Orgainsers said Gilmore will present some new material from the new album he is working on and of course with the energetic stage presence and virtuoso African harmonica solos which are his trademark.
The show is sure to rock for fans in London, the Zong Zing all-stars will give a kwasa kwasa dance party.
A London soul singer will kick off the night and Lucius Banda himself will be there after his Nottingham on July 4 show as a special guest.
It is likely the show will be broadcast live on Voice of Africa radio based in London -www.voiceofafricaradio.com
