Flames’ England based star in ‘stable condition’ after car crash
Doctors at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital have carefully worded the condition of Malawi’s England based midfielder Chikondi Kadzombe who had suffered multiple injuries in a terrible car accident early Thursday.
Kadzombe who plays for Molesye a football club based in West Molesey, Surrey, England, currently playing in the Combined Counties League Premier Division was involved in a car accident at Ginnery Corner in Blantyre on early hours of Thursday.
When visited at the hospital after Malawi had crashed DR Congo in World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, doctors insisted the player was in “stable condition”.
However, Nyasa Times could not speak to the player.
A relation of Kadzombe said the accident was “dreadful” but hoped “the medical attention he is getting will heal him.”
Police public relations officer for southern region, Davie Chingwalu said the player’s cream white Toyota Saloon Mark II overturned from what he believed was speed driving.
“He might have been speeding. There was no any car which was involved in the accident,” said Chingwalu.
Malawi coach Kinna Phiri drafted Kadzombe in his squad after Nyasa Times reported that he was a sensational at his club.
He won his national debut as a second half substitute during the friendly match with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at Germiston Stadium which the Flames lost 3-0 but was offloaded for the DRC match.
His club, Molesey posted on its website about the development.
Kadzombe left Malawi in 2005 at the peak of his form when he was Bakili Bullets hit striker under coach Kinna. He is also doing Marketing Degree studies in England.
