Epac conquers Northern Region as they return with maximum points: Malawi TNM Super League

Central Region outfit Epac FC can be described as team of the week in the on going TNM Super League after winning all their two assignments in the Northern Region.

‘Njenjete’ as they are popularly called by their followers, on Saturday beat fourth placed Mzuni FC 1-0 at the Mzuzu Stadium before beating bottom placed Karonga United by the same goal margin 24 hours later at the same venue.

Alick Jana’s loan strike in the second half was enough to allow  Epac bag in three points against struggling and bottom placed Karonga United.

The result means that Epac have moved to position eight with 13 points from 10 games.

Their coach Audrey Makonyola said he was delighted with the performance of his players.

“I am happy with the way the boys played in both games over the weekend and I am also happy that we have managed to collect maximum six points away from home it wasnt easy” said Makonyola.

He however urged the players to remain focused inorder to continue the pace they have gained.

In other games played on Sunday, Dwangwa United went down 2-1 to visiting Moyale Barracks at the Chitowe Stadium.

Dwangwa scored first through Kingsley Kapalamula before Gastin Simkonda equalled the scores.

As everyone thought the game will end in a draw, Chrispin Fukizi did the damage in the 89th minute when he slotted the ball home following a defensive lapse.

It was a relief for the soldiers who on Saturday lost 1-0 to fellow soldiers Mafco FC at the same venue.

Moyale coach Collins Nkuna praised his charges for a spirited perfomance that earned them three valuable points.

“I thank the boys for the job well done. After losing to Mafco on Saturday we sat down with the boys and told them to forget what had happened and concentrate on Dwangwa game”

“They followed the instructions and here we are now, we are going back with three points” said Nkuna.

At the Zomba Community Centre Ground, Red Lions salvaged a 1-1 draw against wounded Kamuzu Barracks who on Saturday lost 1-0 to Azam Tigers.

Moses Nankumba scored for the Lions while Kamuzu Barracks responded through Manase Chiyesa.

Kamuzu Barracks are on position six with 14 points from 10 games while Red Lions are on position 13 with seven points from nine games.

Blue Eagles still lead the log standings with 21 points from nine games while Silver Strikers come second with 19 points from nine games.

Moyale and Mafco are on third and fourth places respectively with 17 points apiece but separated with goal difference.

Mzuni FC completes the top five chart and they have 16 points from 10 games.
