Ex-MP Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro to release music album July
Former member of Parliament (MP) for Chikwawa Central Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro and a wife to popular musician McDonald Mlaka Maliro has announced plans to release a music album in July.
Bernadette plans to launch the album in August at Robin’s Park in Blantyre and kick-start her music career.
She plans to sing gospel music and help advance her husband evangelical work as Mlaka, himself a top singer, is a full-time pastor at Cross Life Ministries at Chilomoni in Blantyre.
Bernadette said she started composing songs for this album in 2010, but due to parliamentary work, she did not go in the studio.
“Now that I am out of Parliament, I have time for studio work and my album will be ready next month,” she said.
The former parliamentarian said she has featured several top gospel artists in the album, including Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Sam Maliza as well as Mlaka her husband of Dzanja Lalemba fame.
“Music lovers should expect a good album; I feel I have done a good job,” she said.
Apart from featuring in Mlaka’s Kamandidutsadutsa music video, Bernadetta also composed a song titled Yona with Coss Chiwalo in 2011.
