FAM Charity Shield shifted to 15 April
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed shifting of dates for the FA Charity Shield Match to 15th April 2017.
Initially, the match that will involve league champions Kamuzu Barracks and Presidential National Cup holders Nyasa Big Bullets was slated for the first week of April to mark the official opening of the 2017 soccer season.
According to FAM Finance Director Limbani Matola, so far everything is in place and FAM marketing team, is still working on other means of raising more funds.
Matola said this year’s proceeds will be used to buy physiotherapy equipment to be donated at Kachere Rehabilitation Centre.
Proceeds from last year’s inaugural FAM Charity Shield match last year were used to purchase trolleys and other equipments that were donated at Kamuzu Central Hoaspital in Lilongwe.
The shifting of dates for the new season opener gives doubts and leaves Malawians whondering when exactly the flagship Super League will commence.
According to FAM Calendar, Super League season for 2017 was supposed to begin on 8th April 2017.
