Fire razes down Catholic church in Chiradzulu

What started as a simple exercise to harness honey inside Nyungwe Catholic Church in Chiradzulu on Sunday night has led to fire razing down the church

Diocesan secretary for Blantyre archdiocese Father Michael Chimwala said a watchman and a cook wanted to harness honey inside the church at night.

“Unfortunately the fire spread very fast, it is sad,” said Father Chimwala.

He said there were no casualties but said the church is yet to estimate the cost of the damage and could not say when exactly maintenance work would start to restore the church building.
