Focus on Blantyre derby:  Rivals Bullets, Nomads clash Saturday

Champions Nyasa Big Bullets’ campaign to retain the TNM Super League title will be put to test this Saturday when they date arch rivals Be Forward Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium.

Inside Sport

Bullets won the title last season with 16 points clear from their nearest contender — 66 points against Mafco’s 50.

Bullets have played two games so far in which they drew the first, 0-0 against Moyale before beating Red Lions last weekend at Balaka Stadium.

The Nomads first beat Silver Strikers 2-1 away at Silver Stadium but were held 1-1 by Dwangwa United a week later at home.

The arch rivals both have four points but Wanderers are fourth while Bullets are sixth because of goal difference.

Blue Eagles won their two opening games to claim the top spot with six points. Five teams tie on four points — Moyale on second place, Civo third, Wanderers fourth, Azam Tigers on fifth and Bullets on sixth.

Leaders Blue Eagles travel South this weekend where they will meet 5th-placed Tigers at Kalulu Stadium on Saturday while 2nd-placed Moyale date fellow Mzuzu-based Mzuzu University (Mzuni) at Mzuzu Stadium.

Mzuni are 7th with three points having lost 0-1 to Mafco in their first game and beating Kamuzu Barracks 3-1 the following week.

There will also be a derby in Lilongwe between rivals Civo United and Silver Strikers at Civo.

Silver, who ended fifth last season, are at position 14 having lost both their opening games, 1-2 against Wanderers and 0-1 against Azam Tigers — both games at home.

On the away trail, leaders Blue Eagles meet Max Bullets on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

On Monday, Epac date Kamuzu Barracks at Civo United while Wizards FC meet Red Lions at Kamuzu Stadium.

All roads will lead to Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday for the Blantyre derby on Saturday while Lilongwe fans will be trekking to Civo Stadium for their fill of the Week Two of 2016 TNM Super League.

This weekend’s matches will determine a good landscape of the campaign.

As I welcome this column by one Duncan, I once again share my observation and some piece of advice to this esteemed columnist. Your logo seems to be too clouded. Take out the laptop as it only repeating the logo itself. It seems irrelevant. Same is the case with the handset. The words and even your name are not well placed. There is too much clatter. Please revisit the logo. Keep it simple and nice. If need be I can of course help in this regard. Otherwise you are welcome and good luck. Keep us updated
