Some football experts in the country have accused the Football Association of Malawi (FAM ) for overreacting on developments that occur at football matches.

Fam President Walter Nyamilandu : Unsporting charges

This follows FAM’s recent fines, bans and charges pressed on clubs and players involved in what the country’s football governing body calls unsporting behavior and misconduct.

The most recent one are the charges which FAM has issued on Be  Forward Wanderers following incidents that occurred during their Carlsberg Cup semifinal match against Mangochi Police a week ago.

Most football analyst that spoke to Nyasa Times believe FAM overreact on petty issues instead of issuing  warnings.

“Going by recent developments, it appears FAM has developed a syndrome of reaping from clubs, players and club officials through their disciplinary committee. What FAM needs to know is that football is a game of emotions hence the misunderstandings that occur in almost each and every game.

“Let them watch what happens in Italy, France, and other top European leagues. Why can’t FAM concentrate on organising refresher courses to our referees who on several occasions have been at fault thereby causing unnecessary violence in our football matches? Why can’t they  spend more time in lobbying  with the corporate world  for more revenue generation into our game rather than punishing innocent clubs and individuals?” wondered one of the soccer experts.

Another expert believe some FAM officials do not deserve be on their positions as they luck footballing administration skills.

“We have some FAM officials who are very unprofessional in the way they handle cases. Some are attached to particular teams and take advantage oc their bogus positions to punish innocent clubs and individuals. I think it’s high time we changed the whole executive that run things at FAM,” said one of the experts.

While some experts accuse FAM of unprofessional skills,  another football comentator believes FAM is using particular reporters to turnish the image of certain teams for the benefit of FAM.

“Look at the negative publicity that some teams have received of late. I believe some reporters exegerate on certain issues which are obvious in the game of football.  These journalists belong to particular teams too and I guess they do that for a reason,” said one of the experts.

On Wednesday FAM slapped Mighty Be Forward Wanderers football club with 3 charges following unsporting incidents that occurred during their match with Mangochi Police.

  1. koditu zimene amafuna a FAM ndi zoti tsiku ndi tsiku tizingomva zoti Bullets yatenga cup, Wanderers yatenga cup and not any other team here in Malawi football. that’s why they had to slap MAFCO with all those charges, so that MAFCO inyanyale. You know, most of the people at FAM are fans of either Bullets or Wanderers and not any other team. ifensotu football timaitsata kwambiri. timamvera zones zija mumachitazi and watching the games themselves. How can fans do what wanderers fans did to their friends goalkeeper? how? why? They knew that they were losing that match eti? and to make the other side use a substitute so that they can score? haa! what a shame. even if they win against the Bankers, will not carry weight after doing what they did for the Police side. You people at FAM, just know that football is not only in Blantyre, but everywhere. This is why we did not want you NYAMILANDU and your group, we wanted change of mindset in football
