Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has offered new contracts to General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda and Technical Director John Kaputa for two years.
Nyirenda’s contract expired in April 30 this while Kaputa’s was due to run its course at the end of this month but the association’s executive meeting held on Saturday offered them new contracts.
Speaking in an interview, Nyirenda, who joined as Administration Officer rising to Chief Administration Officer, said he was indebted to FAM President Walter Nyamilandu for entrusted him with the high office of the General Secretary after his predecessor Charles Nyirenda left.
“I am a grateful to the President Walter Nyamilandu for making it possible that I should hold the office against many people’s dissenting views,” Nyirenda said.
“But his trust in me and encouragement has made it possible for me to reach this far.”
He said during his four-year tenure he has championed a number of projects for the association citing the Chiwembe Hotel, new offices, grounds, gym and cafeteria among others.
Kaputa, who is on unpaid leave from Malawi Defence Force, said was humbled by the offer.
“I am happy that my contact has been renewed. I don’t take it for granted. This just shows that the association is impressed with my performance,” Kaputa said.
Kaputa is one of the most qualified and experienced coaches in the country.
He is CAF Senior instructor and currently is running a number of coaching courses in the country.
He is holding a CAF A Licence coaching course to enable Malawi’s Super League coaches attain high qualification.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
