Former development golfers dominate TNM Malawi Open tourney

Former development golfers dominated Malawi Open Golf tournament sponsored by TNM held at Lilongwe Golf Club over the weekend.

Stafford Mayuni emerged champion in a competition played over two days beating Malawi’s number one golfer and fellow Blantyre Sports Club member Paul Chidale to position two while Adam Sailes of Lilongwe Golf Club settled for third position in a competition which attracted record 147 golfer.

Mayuni attributed his success to consistency during the two-day race on Malawi’s biggest golf course.

“I played a good game and held my nerves to overcome a field of 147 golfers,” Mayuni said.

Golf Union of Malawi president Gabriel Kambale a top ranked golfer himself, applauded TNM for sponsoring the competition.

“This is one of Malawi’s major golf tournaments which attracted the best golfers across the country,” Kambale said.

“We are grateful to TNM for its continued association with golf by sponsoring this major tournament.”

TNM Head of Marketing Sibusiso Ngwenya said the company was obliged to contribute towards the development.

Ngwenya said such competitions also give them a chance to interact with their customers.

“Apart from giving golfers a chance to compete it also act as a forum for us to get feedback from them on how we can improve our services,” he said.
