Friends of Mulunguzi Secondary School to hold indaba Nov 27

Former and current students, teachers and workers of Mulunguzi Secondary school in Zomba will Sunday 27th November, meet at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe and Mount Soche hotel in Blantyre respectively to discuss the formulation of Friends of Mulunguzi Secondary Trust fund with an aim of sourcing funds to refurbish the school which is in dilapidated conditions.

According to Alfred Jiya one of the organisers of the meetings which will start from 2pm, delegates will discuss Terms of References for the formulation of the Friends of Mulunguzi’s Fund.

Mulunguzi Secondary school trust was established with the objective of renovating and refurbishing the school which is currently in a dilapidated school.

Mulunguzi is a government secondary school located in the eastern city of Zomba built in 1985.

The Trust Funds is expected to raise funds to renovate the school hostels, replace worn out fittings in the hostels. They will also aim to buy additional chairs and desks for the students.

They also want to replace or service the cooking pots in the kitchen, buy books for the library or teaching.

“Objectively, the trust fund seeks to find out from the school the needs that are there, assess the damage that has happened over the years, put together a report of what needs to be redressed.”

According to the Term of Reference, the report will be submitted to the main committee who will further report to the board of trustees “ prioritize the needs, design plan of action, quantify the entire project, identify the necessary professionals who can do the work, budget line drawn and budget proposed, contractor(s) appointed, project is done, inspectors deployed to see the work done, report is prepared by inspectors and submitted to the main committee and later presented to the board of trustees,  accounts audited and handover ceremony  proposed and conducted.”

Mulunguzi secondary school has produced some prominent Malawian professionals who are now linking up through the Facebook group.
