Gaba’s goal stuns Orlando Pirates

Malawi national team star Gabadinho Mhango turned on the magic to score the priceless goal which gave Bloemfontein Celtic to triumph over Orlando Pirates in South Africa’s PSL League on Monday.

KickOff reported that there was nothing much to write about in the 20th minute until the Malawian former Bullets FC star broke the deadlock.

“Celtic deservingly broke the deadlock seven minutes later when Gabadinho Mhango latched onto Davies Nkausu’s long-ball, cut inside Siyabonga Sangweni and fired home a powerful left-footed shot into the top-right corner,” states the report in part.

“Hellings ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango put in a magnificent performance to help Bloemfontein Celtic beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 at Free State Stadium on Monday afternoon.”

The Malawian did not just score in the 27th minute but was also on the other end of action clearing the ball off the line to prevent Pirates from finding a way to salvage a point.

Both teams arrived into the encounter on the back of a poor run of results with both Celtic and Pirates having only one won match in their last three domestic encounters.

The home side were left appealing a penalty after just four minutes when Daine Klate cleared the ball off the line at the near post from a corner kick, however, the referee waved play on.

Siwelele continued to dominate proceedings in the encounter but there was little action happening in front of goal on either end of the park.

The Malawian star played almost the entire game as he was substituted in the 93rd minute for  Joel Mogorosi.

Gaba’s goal, which completed his team a league double victory over the Buccaneers earned him rave reviews from fans.

“Damn this Mhango dude is brilliant. I first saw him when Celtic played Downs and he was a sub but hey he caused havoc and I solely believe should he started that game we will be talking a different story. I see him overtaking Bernard Parker,” one fans commented on KickOff.com

While another fan simply summed up: “Gabodinho is pure.”

Celtic are on position six just a step below Orpando Pirates both 40 points but Gaba’s team has played two more games that the Sea Robbers.

Sundowns are leading the log table with 61 points from 28 games while defending champions Kaizer Chiefs are trailing on second position with 55 points but have two games in hand.

Bidvest Wits University of Malawi’s Robin Ngalande are  on third with 51 points from 26 games.
