However, the move has angered Celtic who says the player never showed any sign that he might leave the club and that he assured club officials he is not going anywhere.

Celtic Chairman Max Tshabalala said through the club website that the player’s decision has come as a big surprise.

“We are stunned by Mhango’s pre-contract signing with Wits after having numerous discussions with him and his agent for more than one year. Even this past Friday whilst preparing for Kaizer Chiefs game, he adamantly denied rumours about his departure and made a commitment
with us sign” explained Tshabalala.

He added: “I deem his conduct to be unprofessional”.

Tshabalala said both parties agreed to hold on to their negotiations until the player who sustained a career threatening injury last year fully recover.

He said he was shocked to hear through the media and a letter from Wits confirming they have signed Mhango.

Tshabalala said they have decided to let Mhango go as he might not be 100% committed if forced to remain at Celtic.

Mhango has played five games this season and scored once.

He was featured and substitutes in the 73rd minute in last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

In 2 weeks time celtic released 3 key players. The 1st player to ask to be released was a left back Tumelo Mogapi. Then Gaba released jst because he signed a pre contract wit wits and now is Musa Bilamkulu their centre back has asked to be released to which the management complied nd he is no longer a celtic player effectively frm yesterday. Whose to blame. i think celtic management has serious prblm hence the running away of players.
