GOtv celebrates two years: Multichoice Malawi says consumer response phenomenal

Go television, popularly known as GOtv,  GOtv, a low costtelevision services launched by Multi-Choice Malawi, on Tuesday  celebrated two years of its operations in the country with a special treat to about  journalists at Fisherman’s Rest resort along the Chikhwawa road.

Among others, journalists were treated to five minutes moment of fame where they were given an opportunity to make and present a documentary of their choice, sports, movie, news and music. They also had assorted food and drinks.

Journalists were also given a chance to watch football skills display from Fisher Kondowe and Basket ball skill display from Daudi Suleman and fashion.

“We brought the first television services in Malawi and with GOtv we have brought the first terrestrial-television services in Malawi,” said Knight.

Multichoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda added:“The feedback has been tremendous because the product is affordable. People should expect the introduction of more channels on Gotv.”

“Winning the hearts and homes of viewers, GOtv continues to bring great entertainment across the continent,” he said.

In Malawi, GOtv has two bouquets available; GOtv and GOtv Plus.

Gotv is a pay television product which is sold at K36, 000 full set but does not require much expertise tuning view as compared to the Digital Satellite television (DStv). After one has procured a Gotv set (which comprises an antena, decoder, a ten metre cable and a remote control), they view all the channels for free for three months and there after choose to either pay a subscription of K3, 500 or that of K2, 500 per month.

Nyirenda explained that with GOtv customers are getting over 15 channels such as Sony Max, Al Jazeera, Super Sport Select and Channel O while with GOtv Plus they are get over 25 channels that give you value for money with channels such as Super Sport Select 1, Super Sport Select 2, M-Net Movies Zone, Sony Entertainment Television, CNN and Disney Junior.

“GOtv open provides viewing of the National Broadcaster (MBC) and other Free-To-Air services, all in digital quality,” he said.

Knight said:“GOtv has a wide range of genres,” adding that music, movies, fashion, series, lifestyle and sports, news documentaries, current affairs and kids are all part of the variety on offer.

GOtv is at the moment operating in eight  countries across Africa including Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
