Malawians who have the GoTV decoders will have the privilege to watch the 2015 Netball World cup games live in their homes as service providers of Gotv, Multi choice Malawi has announced that it has acquired broadcast rights of next month’s 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

Multichoice disclosed on Monday that GoTV will air every match of the event live.

Multi choice head of marketing Chimwemwe Nyirenda made the announcement in a ceremony that was held at Sports Complex in Blantyre.

“We are excited to be bringing this world event to our GoTV subscribers, it continues to show our commitment to developing the sport and our support for the Malawi Queens,” Nyirenda said.

The world tournament which is dubbed as the pinnacle event of international netball will bring together the world’s top 16 teams who will battle it out to be crowned the international netball champions.

The World Cup will place August 7-16. Africa will be represented by Uganda, Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.

The other teams that will compete at the 2015 Netball World Cup include hosts Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, England, Jamaica, Scotland, Samoa, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Queens Shooter Sindie “sniper” Simtowe has been named as Gotv Malawi Brand Ambassador.

Nyirenda said they opted for Simtowe as she is well known in the international netball scene as ‘sniper’ and that brings with her the kind of star power that they believe will contribute making the Gotv brand conspicuous among the many providers internationally.

“GOTV being a brand that showcases local talent believes that the appointment of Sindie is also another way of promoting local talent.

“Being a star from a humble beginning, Gotv also believes the appointment of Simtowe will help to promote Simtowe’s image as a role model who can help to inspire young girls to excel the way she has gone,” Nyirenda explained.

On her part, Simtowe said she feels greatly honoured to be appointed the Gotv brand ambassador.

Simtowe has signed a one year contract taking the place which was previously held by Mary Waya, now assistant coach for Malawi Queens.

Very unfortunate for girls like me in Mchinji who wish can represent my country in netball in the near future but can not watch Queens play. GoTV’s signal ends at Namitete. When is GoTV coming to Mchinji? unfortunate even the government set top box (decoders) don’t have it’s signal in Mchinji too!!!!!!
