Heads to roll at Malawi champions Silver: Assistant coaches under fans fire

Sick and tired with their team’s unimpressive performance in the TNM Super League, Silver Strikers supporters have demanded the removal of team manager Sibusiso Padambo and assistant coaches Hellings Mwakasungula and Itaye Nundwe from the club’s technical panel.

The supporters, through their committee have written the club’s executive committee to get rid of the three, whom they accuse of confusing head coach Franco Ndawa.

The fans claim that the three have been contradicting Ndawa on fielding of some players, resulting in some non-performing players enjoying game time at the expense of hard working players.

However, the executive has pleaded with the supporters to hold their patience and give the coaches time to rectify the shortfalls that have seen the club failing to score a goal in its last six competitive games.

“We had a meeting with the head coach and his technical staff and noting of this sort was mentioned by the coach and our advice to the supporters is that lets give the coaches time to rectify the weaknesses.

“From what we discussed with the coaches, I am certain that things will improve starting this Wednesday, when we will be lining up against Epac FC at Civo Stadium,” said the club’s general secretary Mike Tembo in an interview during Zodiak Broadcasting Station’s TNM Soccer Show.

The central bankers have been unimpressive in their recent competitive matches, drawing 0-0 against visiting Blantyre United and Azam Tigers and losing by 1-0 margins at the hands of Red Lions and Evirom.

They also drew 0-0 against Red Lions and Mafco in the semifinal and final of the K60 million Presidential Cup, forcing both games into penalty shoot-outs.
