ICAM Vice Chairperson, Henry Chowawa announced in Blantyre, during the orientation workshop for journalists on Hennox Mazengera Award.

“I am pleased to announce that the funding these awards has been increased from K1.2million in 2015 to K1.5million in 2016,” said Chowawa.

Chowawa said he was hopeful that the award will contribute in encouraging journalists to take interests and develop their skills in financial reporting and that together there can be facilitation of domestic and foreign investments which will in turn contribute to creation of jobs and poverty reduction.

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi, Chairperson, Thom Khanje, commended ICAM for hiking the award.

Khanje said the award will go along way in encouraging journalists in writing more business stories than ever before.

Hennox Mazengera was the first Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the Society of Accountants in Malawi (SOCAM) which has now been renamed ICAM.

He served ICAM in 1997 to 2007. Mazengera died in August 2013.
