High Court block Malawi College of Accountancy graduation ceremony

The High Court registry in Zomba  has stopped the Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) from holding its 2017 graduation ceremony.

Justice Zione Ntaba of the High Court in Zomba granted the order

The order was granted by Judge Zione Ntaba on Tuesday.

The development follows the court injunction obtained by the graduating students, according to MCA officials.

Confirming the development, MCA Principal Agrippa Phiri said the ceremony was expected to be conducted on 21 April this year.

“I can confirm to you that we have received the court injunction obtained by the graduating students to stop us from holding the 2017 graduation ceremony,” said Phiri.

According to Phiri, the students demand to hold the ceremony after the College is being accredited be accredited by the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE).

MCA was among the colleges discredited by NCHE in November last year due to failure to meet minimum requirements.

The development angered the students who asked the school management to reach the NCHE requirements.
The students argued that their degrees will be of no value if the college is to remain unaccredited by NCHE.

However, Phiri said asked students to remain calm while accepting to abide to the court’s order saying “the college has made its effort on accreditation issue.”

There are only 3 students that are disgrantled, NCHE has no issue with MCA. The 3 students if they are so clever why did they join uncreditted college and not UNIMA or other college. Politics

And this is not the only reason of blocking the college…students grades are always missing in each and every semester…Some of the graduating students have been withdrawn because the records does not show the results, missing files etc and yet they have completed four year and dissertation….MCA management is not doing its job! Agripa is not an academician and he has failed miserably.

So after the accreditation, will you go back to class so that your degrees get value? Otherwise if you are saying they don’t have value now, there is no way they can have value just by accreditation.

THIS ISSUE IS TRICKY I WONDER IS MCA NOT UPDATING ITS STAKEHOLDERS SUCH AS STUDENTS ON WHAT THEY HAVE DONE SO FAR REGARDING ACCREDITATION.NCHE ALSO HAS SHORTFALLS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT PICK SOMEONE FROM POLYTECHNIC TO ASSESS MCA YET IT IS COMPETITOR ACTUALY EVEN AT CHANCELLOR COLLEGE STANDARD HAS GOWN DOWN AND IF NCHE CAN ASSESS IT CAN FAIL SO I HOPE NCHE SHOULD JUST COME OUT AND EXPLAIN ITS CRITERIA BECAUSE SOMETHING IS NOT ADDING UP.FOR MCA I THINK THERE ARE MORE ISSUES THAN JUST NCHE ISSUE
