Huawei ICT show gives Malawians opportunity to see future of technology

Some Malawians and experts in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) have expressed hope that Huawei Technology’s latest innovations being showcased at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC), will enable Malawians and service providers move with new trends in the ICT.

Huawei Technologies in Malawi, launched on Tuesday evening the Huawei 2016 Malawi ICT Road Show themed ‘Open Roads to a Better Connected Africa’ and unveiling ICT Seeds for the Future Program.

With aid of demos and presentations and workshops, visitors are being introduced to some of the Huawei latest innovative solutions in the network, enterprise, devices and ICT Spaces.

“What I have seen here is so wonderful,” commented  Joy Bauleni who went to see for himself some latest technologies that have been placed in a truck where visitors are able to visualise everything with aid of screens that are displaying how some technologies will work in future

“Technology is really changing and advancing at a fast rate for example right now we are using 4G mobile technology but what I have seen here is that we are now talking about 5G network that will bring good user experience. I think Huawei is taking us to the future and we will be there. The technology and equipment’s I have seen here gives me confidence that Huawei can really give us new trends in ICT,” he added

Meanwhile, Malawi Government has commended Huawei Technologies Malawi for its commitment to bring in the country, the state of art infrastructure in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Minister of Information, Communications, Technology and Civic Education,  Patricia Kaliati hailed the company when she officially opened Huawei 2016 Malawi ICT Road Show on Tuesday evening.

The Information Minister said Huawei ICT innovation will help foster country’s sustainable socio economic development by enabling citizens use the modern ICT equipment’s and share knowledge through affordable Broadband and usage of ICT.

Kaliati emphasised that ICT has enormous potential to accelerate development growth of developing African countries like Malawi because it helps people share knowledge and information easily.

She said the recent study has shown that capitalising on growth of ICT results in an increase in the growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in a country.

“This therefore means that we cannot give blind eye to the growth of the ICT,” said Kaliati, “The growth of Broad Band, ICT Innovation and infrastructure development are paramount to this.”

She continued to express hope that Huawei’s focus on investing in ICT infrastructure in the country, gives hope that the country will soon join the rest of developed countries in using modern ICT products and services.

“Malawi Government through Ministry of Information, Communications, Technology and Civic Education is pleased to partner with Huawei for the growth of ICT in Malawi. Malawi needs connectivity that is reliable, cheap and fast and it is only through this that we shall grow in ICT as a nation.”

She asserted and further thanked Huawei for training six young Malawians in ICT through Telecom Seeds for the Future program.

Realising the importance and huge benefits of ICT, she then mentioned that this is why Government had recently lead the review and passing of the Communications Act.

She said Government is further expanding on the National Optic Fibre to guarantee accessibility of ICT to both people in urban and rural setting.

Managing Director for Huawei Technologies in Malawi, Wan Wei, said the Huawei Technologies Malawi is very committed to bring ICT trends into the country.

“Over the past 18 years we are dedicated to build a better connected Africa, and Huawei has been working closely with customers to improve ICT infrastructure and to get more African people connected using high quality telecommunication network and allow them to enjoy digital life equally.”

He said ICT Road Show is being done in order to explore the roads to ICT transformation and business success for Governmental agencies, network operators and all other interested parties and it intends to introduce concept of ICT Transformation, Infrastructure transformation and Business Operation Transformation.

Huawei experts are explaining to visitors on number of topics including, Industry trends, experience driving utra broadband, mobile broadband 2020, best experience mobile broadband network, building best carrier network, business enablement, efficient operation, telecom capability exposure, digital services aggregation, cloud transformation, SDN and NFV.

After Lilongwe road show at Bingu International Conference Centre on August 19, Huawei is taking the show to Blantyre from August 24 to 26, 2016.
