I deserve my own mandate -JB

Malawi President Joyce Banda says she deserves a new mandate from Malawians because she has done a lot in the two years she has been Head of State.

President Banda, who was drumming up support for her Peoples Party ahead of the May 20 tripartite elections in the southern region, said many things had improved in Malawi since she assumed office in 2012.

She said the country’s economy had improved compared to the way it was.

President Banda said she had built 1,400 teachers houses over the past two years.

She said she would also construct a lot of mothers’ shelters in various hospitals.

President Banda appealed to Malawians to vote for her so that she can continue with the massive developmental projects that she had started.

She also officiated at the seventh national electrification project in Balaka district.

President Banda said the main purpose of the electrification project was to improve the living standards of the people.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Electoral Commission has announced that campaigns for the May 20 elections would end on May 18 at 18:00 hours and Banda if wrapping her campaign in her base Zomba.
