It’s Silver, Epac final in Be Forward tourney: Bullets, Nomads fall
A 78th minute own goal conceded by Jafali Chande was enough to send his team Big Bullets football club out of the inaugural K7 million Be Forward tournament in a highly competitive and entertaining match played against Silver Strikers at Civo stadium on Friday.
Silver will have to face Epac FC in the final that will be a Capital City derby.
To book their final berth, Epac knocked out Mighty Wanderers 4-3 through post match penalties .
Epac goalkeeper who is also the captain for the team, Owen Chaima was the hero of the day when he made two spot kick saves from former Civo United midfielder Patrick Gunde and Cuthbelt Sinetre to send his team into the finals;
Epac are taking this tournament seriously, general secretary Roy Mdechi said.
“We are looking for a winning start so that we can qualify for the final and eventually grab the cup,” Mdechi said.
Bullets will have to face their rivals Wanderers again for the third place slot with K2 million at stake for champions, K1 million for the runners-up, K500 000 going to the third-placed side and K250 000 for the fourth.
Japanese car dealers Be Forward, who are extending their operations to Malawi, are sponsoring the tournament.
