JB moves ‘crucial’ cabinet meeting to Chikoko Bay

President Joyce Banda, under pressure to resolve the current looting of government money at Capital Hill has moved her cabinet meeting to Chikoko Bay in Mangochi on Thursday.

The President was expected to meet her cabinet at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre tomorrow morning but has since moved the venue to Chikoko Bay in Mangochi.

“We have been told that the cabinet meeting will now take place at Chikoko Bay not Sanjika, we don’t know why but that’s the information that I have got,” said one senior minister.

The cabinet meeting comes amid reports that President Banda’s own Vice President Khumbo Kachali, Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara and former Budget Director Dalitso Kabambe (now director of Planning at Ministry of Health) were implicated in the ‘cash-gate’ scandal that has rocked Capital Hill.

“This is where we end the press conference, we know that you (President Banda) have to travel for some place, so we have to let you rest,” said Banda.

President Banda will be in Mangochi to attend the funeral of Chief Makanjira.

According to Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development,  Chief Makanjira passed away at his home early Wednesday.
