JB set to face Malawi media on return Wednesday
Malawi President Joyce Banda will address journalist at a news conference she will hold when she arrives back home on Wednesday from the New York where she attended the United Nations General Assembly.
President Banda comes back at a time the nation is grappling with a Capital Hill financial mess.
The government is said to be “on top of things” in crackdown on the dubbed “cashgate” scandal.
When the President was leaving the country, Ministry of Finance budget director Paul Mphwiyo had just been shot.
Mphwiyo’s shooting was followed by revelations of massive theft at Capital Hill and arrests of some government officials.
According to a press statement signed by State House presidential press secretary Steve Nhlane, the Head of State will arrive through Chileka Airport and the plane carrying her will touch down at 11:30am.
The statement said “The President will at 4:30pm address a press conference at Sanjika Palace, in Blantyre.”
According to the statement, hile at the Assembly, President Banda attended several bilateral meetings with development partners which resulted in the developing partners pledging continued support to Malawians in education, health and other sectors.
