The London School of Economics and Political Science – one of the world’s top universities, is a public research university specialised in social sciences located in London, United Kingdom, and a constituent college of the federal University of London.

Banda was invited to deliver the lecture at the university’s Institute of Public Affairs in Old Theatre, Old Building.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Affairs at LSE, Dr Purna Sen, told Nyasa Times that Banda will “reflect on her journey to the highest level of public life.”

Sen, who will be the discussant at the public lecture said: “This event launches a new Institute of Public Affairs project exploring the roads taken by women who shape public life.”

Banda was the first female President of Malawi (2012 – 2014) and only the second woman to lead a country in Africa.

Her press officer Tusekele Mwanyongo told Nyasa Times that Banda is “delighted to have this opportunity to share her experience of public life.”

LSE said the event is free and open to all with no ticket or pre-registration required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.

The university academics act as advisers to governments serve on commissions and are seconded to national and international organisations. LSE regularly attracts leading public figures to give lectures, attend seminars and consult staff.

Its not about knowing Economics in and out. Its about recognition and respect these pple have towards madam Banda. What this does is practical. I believe politics was not for her. God works wonders. The 2yrs was just a platform for her elevation. If it was not for that the World would not have known her. She messed up but God is full of mercy. Whatever was meant for her humiliation God is turning it round. Those with eyes needs to clean them properly and open them wide. Some Malawians do not respect this Lady but the West value her so much. Asensible person will just leave this Lady alone.
