Jumbe quits frontline politics, New Labour Party dissolved
Friday Jumbe, Malawi’s former finance minister, has announced the disbandment of his New Labour Party with immediate effect.
Jumbe said the decision has been made after the national executive committtee for the party met in Blantyre Tuesday morning.
He said after analysing the government led by Peter Muntharika and his party (DPP), they feel what was in their manifestos and objectives are being implemented.
“It means, New Labor Party is no longer there, we have seen that what DPP government is implementing is the same New Labor Party could have done if voted into power, so why having this party?” said Jumbe.
Jumbe said he is out of active politics to concentrate in his businesses.
New Labour Party is the second party to be dissolved after the dissolution of Chipani Cha Pfuko which was being led lawmaker Davis Katsonga who announced his defections to DPP.
