Kaliati, who has been recognised by three organisations, among them, World Sustainability Congress (WSC) and Stars of the Industry Group (SIG), told Nyasa Times from Mauritius that she owes the success to Almighty God.

“I am very happy for the award, as you already know that it is always sweeter whenever someone recognises your role in the society,” said Kaliati.

To win the award, the organisations looked at attributes such as leadership and interpersonal skills, charisma, social impact, integrity and ethic, visionary approach, change agent and business achievement.

She hailed the media for highlighting most of her works which has earned her the honour.

Kaliati has scooped this award only few months after scooping an award of excellence for her involvement in the acceleration of gender protocols in the Southern Africa Development Community (Sadc) region.

India African organisation  tracked Kaliati after their researchers identified her through online and other mode of researching, as a big advocate of gender and general women’s rights.

Chairperson of board of trustees of Federation of Disability Organisations in Malawi (Fedoma), Towera Masiku, said the minister deserved the award as she has demonstrated to be a woman of the people.

I am just curious to know how the awarding organizations define the terminologies in the Award criteria(integrity, charisma, ethic, leadership, interpersonal skills, visionary etc).

Akweni has really found her calling, where she can show her skills, be effective in doing good work, and be seen to be going good work. And produce desirable outcomes too. She even outshines some of the more educated politicians; meaning that level of education is but only one factor in politics.
Her approach is Gung-ho: work together – work in harmony, full throttle.
She is always pumped for any worthy cause in her ministry. Whether the issue is about gender, disability, in social welfare or about children in general. She fits the ministry like a glove.
She’s arguably one of the astute politicians in this whole country, at this juncture. MCP would definitely covet the likes of her. No question.
Knowing Akweni, she might have asked APM for this ministry. Good move indeed.
She surely is tutoring other women on the African continent about retail politics. And showing many women, beyond, how results can be achieved in politics, if done passionately, And, with the interests of the people served at heart. This is a big reason for her achievement awards.
    Congratulations baasi apa.

  16. Patricia Kaliati otherwise knowan as AKWENI comes from the Lhomwe Belt of Mulanje apo pa Mkando and she is a DPP die-hard who will be one of those to form APM’s next government in 2019. Akweni woyeeee! Akweni mumandipeza kwambiri! Peter woyee! DPP woyee!

A flying bird given additional wings? Even higher and more,it flies! Tsoka kwa azibambo!
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
On integrity and ethics, you need to tame your manners. Osati Kabwira akangokupatsani moni, inu mwayamba kale kulalata only to realise in the end, she was only greeting you. Act less with your tongue n more with your brain and more awards will come flying.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    And you need to be orderly;
. . . the way you closed Mama’s Shabeen in Ntcheu n later on open it, shows misapplication of emotions, paramount abuse of power hence lack of professionalism.
. . . the way the information bill was pushed through parliament left a lot to be needed. The use of tricks, ambush, abracadabra, emotional threats, psychological trap etc doesn’t reflect well on one’s skills.
. . . the way you just wake up sometimes n declare “I shall close all buildings that do not recognise the rights of women or the disabled or the elderly” scintillates chaos of mind – not so desirable an attribute.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Otherwise, you always try! . . . to make yourself visible, notwithstanding the chaos.

I entirely agree with this recognition. In my view, she is the only performing Cabinet Minister in the present government. She has really stood up for the disadvantaged women and children in Malawi. Kudos akweni
