Mota-Engil, a Portuguese that is constructing a multimillion railway line in Neno district has announced the closure of road section between Kamwamba and Phalula on the M1 zalewa road.
The section will be closed to traffic for a period of six months beginning this month of July.
This closure will certainly affect the mobility of traffic along the Zalewa stretch.
According to the company, the closure has been necessitated to allow the construction of Interference Bridge where the rail line will be crossing the road.
The Interference Bridge is part of the 138.5 kilometre rail line being constructed by the company. It is also part of the Nacala Corridor project from Cambulatsitsi on the Malawi-Mozambique border through Thambani in Mwanza district to Nkaya in Balaka district.
To avoid interruption in vehicular movement due the bridge works and to minimize traffic congestions, a butimenised diversion road has been constructed and adequate signage installed at the site.
All road users are therefore advised to observe and follow the road signs strategically installed to avoid uncertainties.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
