Kamwendo has been released by DRC giants TP Mazembe while his boyhood club Mighty Be Forward Wanderers were anxious to sign him.

Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao said they had been talking to Mazembe on the possibility of securing his services.

He said Kamwendo’s move to the former Portuguese colony was a surprise to Wanderers as the versatile midfielder had never indicated of leaving.

“The rumours that he has secured a deal with a Mozambique club is a bit surprising because he told us that he is going to DRC to sort out a few things with his club,” Butao said.

“We have been talking to TP Mazembe and we expected to conclude the negotiations to have him permanently.”

Kamwendo returned from DRC early this year after indicating that he was looking for club since the club had not guaranteed him of place in their star-studded team.

Apart from Wanderers Silver Strikers were also interested to secure his signature for the nimble footed player.

Whilst at that, sometimes these players evade their officials’ ‘toll gates’ when negotiating for better contracts-their case is similar to that of a Tobacco farmer where you’ve the… Read more »
