Kaphuka dumps PP to join MCP
Former Deputy Minister and member of parliament for Blantyre west cum business man, Samuel Kaphuka has quit Joyce Banda’s ruling People’s Party (PP) to join Malawi Congress Party.
Kaphuka, the former Member of Parliament for Blantyre West besides being the proprietor of Kaphuka Private Schools said: “I have made the decision to join the Malawi Congress Party and quit PP.”
He said it was clear that MCP under the leadership of Dr Lazarous Chakwera was only party that had a clear vision for Malawians.
“I want to contribute to the development of the country in a different capacity and MCP offers that hope for the national development not looting,” said Kaphuka.
Kaphuka said the MCP was growing and deserved support from a cross section of Malawian people.
According to Kaphuka, MCP presidential hopeful Chakwera has set a direction of travel that can appeal across the political spectrum unlike the PP.
He said the cashgate scandal is not just embarrassing for the PP but could harm both the social and economic future of the country.
