Karonga Council under fire over public works
Local in Traditional Authroity (T/A) Kilupula want Karonga District Council to explain delays in some projects being implemented under the 2015 Public Works Program.
At a meeting organized said by Development Communicationsb Trust (DCT), which is empowering the locals to track development funds, group village head Mulindafwa said Nowa Fish Pond and Pusi market were abandoned after the villagers received their wages.
“We are concerned that the council is failing to bring materials almost two years on,” he bemoaned.
District fisheries officer Simon Ngwira said he was not aware of the fish pond.
But the council’s monitoring and evaluation officer Isaac Mkandawire promised to investigate the matter.
