No where in the world is development money controlled by MPs. Development money in districts is controlled by local govt not MPs. It is therefore very strange that in malawi mps control development money in their constituencies. This is utter rubbish, local govt through local reps or councillors should be the ones controlling development money in their areas. Development should not be politicised and giving such power to an mp, politicises the matter.
This need to change if malawi is to develop properly especially local govt and accountability.
