Phambala saw his side defeat Chipiku Central Region Football League Premier division outfit Nsundwe United 7-0 at the Civo Stadium in the Capital Lilongwe.

Following the impressive opening game of their Carlsbeg Cup campaign, Phambala believes it is high time history repeats itself.

“I want to make a repeat of what I did in 2013 [winning the cup] by again lifting this year’s Carlsberg Cup. We have started well and our win over Nsundwe is a warning to all other clubs,” said Phambala.

“We are not turning back, we have a good squad and the boys are playing well and I can assure you that we will grab the cup this year,” added Phambala.

Kamuzu Barracks won the 2013 Carlsberg Cup after beating Moyale Barracks 1-0 at the Mzuzu Stadium.

Harvey Nkacha scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute beating Macdonard Harawa who was manning the posts.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are the defending champions after beating traditional old age rivals Nyasa Big Bullets at the Civo Stadium last year.

The Nomads will launch their title defending campaign against their Reserve side in few days coming.

Red Lions through

Meanwhile, Zomba based soldiers Red Lions have reached the round of 16 phase following a 1-0 hard felt victory over resillient Blantyre United in a tight match played at the Zomba Community Centre Ground on Wednesday.

Peter Makwale scored the loan goal in the 68th minute.

Lions have joined Azam Tigers, Mafco, Zomba United, Mzuzu United and Zolozolo FC who already qualified into the round of 16 last Saturday.
