Khumbo avoids PP slogan at Mzuzu rally

State Vice President Khumbo Kachali, who is also an elected Peoples Party vice President for the north,  openly showed his discontent for being sidelined as PP running mate in May 20 tripartite polls when he avoided the party’s  slogan in favour of the Alliance for Democracy late Chakufwa Chihana’s mantra.

He did this at a rally at the Mzuzu upper stadium on Tuesday.

The rally followed President Joyce Banda’s ground breaking ceremony for the construction of strategic fuel reserves at Sonda in Mzuzu which will hold 10 million litres of petroleum fuels.

When Kachali took to the podium he said “Mawoko muchanya, Mawoko muchanya. Nkhongono!!  Nyengo!! Akabariro!!” He did not mention either PP or Joyce Banda.

Earlier Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola screamed PP slogans and then proceed to deliver his speech.

Matola then described other political parties as ‘Clubs’ enjoying travelling in Malawi because of the country’s abundance of fuel which he noted was scarce during DPP regime.

Aford President and Minister of Youth Enoch Chihana even avoided his party’s slogan in favour of the PP one.

Chihana  on a lighter moment said Aford was not a Club  as alluded by Matola but part of the ruling PP.
