Kinnah signed a two-year contract replacing Juma Mwambusi who has joined Young Africans.

Mbeya General Secretary Emmanuel Kimbe told Tanzania newspaper The Citizen expressed his delight with the arrival of the former Bullets and Malawi national team coach.

“We are all delighted that we managed to hire such an experienced coach. It is our expectation that he will bring a lot to our club,” Kimbe said.

“It is unrealistic to bring silverware this season but at least we hope that Mbeya will slowly get back to its form.”

Phiri thanked Mbiya for seeking his services and hoped that his stint will be productive.

“I am happy to join Mbeya City. It is my hope that we will work as a team and achieve our goal,” Kinnah said.

Kinnah’s move comes barely one week after revealing that he was not an employee of Mzuzu University where he inspired the team to escape relegation after being sacked at South Africa top league Free State Stars.

Mbeya are fighting relegation with 17 points from 17 games in the 16 team league as they perch on ninth position.

Kinnah is acknowledged for facilitating Tanzanian Mrisho Ngassa’s move to Free State Stars.
