Let North produce a President – UP

Opposition Umodzi Party (UP) has said currently there is no presidential candidate fit to rule this country except its acting President Professor John Chisi.

“Malawi need a mature person like Chisi and this is the time for the northern region to produce a President,” UP acting National Director Kayenda Makala told a rally at Area 1B in Mzuzu.

Even Chisi himself backed his minnows saying as a Professor he would steer Malawi based on strategies and long term visions that are compatible with Malawi.

Speaking during maiden rallies held in the northern region at Area 1B in Mzuzu and at his home at Bolero in Rumphi district, Chisi said he is confident that UP will form the next government in 2014 and no other party will unseat it if it has adhoc or no clear socialist policies to empower Malawians.

“Malawians do not need to be given money, maize, fertilisers, soap among other things but they need to be empowered so that they are able to fend for themselves,” he said.

Chisi’s UP which runs on the slogans – Schools everywhere, Hospitals everywhere, Portable water everywhere, good roads everywhere, security everywhere, Jobs everywhere and food everywhere – says Malawi will say bye to poverty if people are empowered.

He said the money spirited from government coffers in the infamous ‘Cash gate’ was enough to pay every Malawian MK15,000 – MK20,000.

“Life is unbearable in Malawi. Only 30 percent of working Malawians support 70 percent of jobless Malawians. Malawi belongs to us and we need to improve our lives here without outside happy,” Chisi said.

Meanwhile, Umodzi has missed its December 2013 deadline to hold its national convention to elect its office bearers for 2014 tripartite polls.
