The two golfers scored 35 and 41 points each during the tournament played at Blantyre Sports Club in Blantyre City, where 120 golfers were in action from Friday.

Of the 120 golfers, only 15 were women.

For emerging the winner in the ladies and men categories, Kawaza and Suzi Banda each received a trophy, airtime, Samsung Galaxy phone and Golf bag.

Kawaza, described the tournament as tough, saying she won because of her impressive performance in some holes and good partnership with her competitors.

“I was outstanding in holes where I had a double strike and I used them to my advantage to amass 35 points and in fact my friends gave me a good game,” she said.

Sheron Marques came second with 30 points and has received Airtime, Golf bag and a Trophy.

Winner in the men’ category, Suzi Banda, had all smiles, saying he enjoyed the game.

“I think I played well on all the holes and I deserve it. But otherwise I had a lot of fun,” Banda said.

Paul Chidale occupied third position while Noel Lipikwa finished second and have both received prizes ranging from Airtime, trophy and Golf bags.

Airtel Malawi Business Enterprise Director Rachel Mijiga said her company organized the tournament to socialize with their customers for their continued support in buying the company’s products.

“We are overwhelmed with the maximum number of participants. Most of the golfers, apart from the people of Blantyre, travelled all the way from Lilongwe, and this just shows the level of commitment to the tournament and Airtel as well. We look forward to the next tournaments to be held this year.

“This one was just one of the six tournaments we have lined up this year. Golf is just one of those platforms where business captains can also share ideas and see how to move forward, “said Mijiga.
