According to some members of the council who attended the meeting, members of the press will be covering the proceedings of the debate live like the way how members cover proceedings at Parliament.

Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa Malawi) chapter chairman, Thom Khanje has described the resolution as a welcome development.

Khanje said the decision will help to strengthen transparency and accountability

“Let me urge all council members to emulate what Lilongwe City has done because that will improve the transparency and accountable,” said Khanje.

Malawi Local Government Association President Samson Chaziya recently accused central government for various problems which the councils are going through.

Chaziya cited underfunding as a major problem which the councils are going through.

With media right within the chambers, all the problems will now be able to come to light quickly for redress by the authorities.

Vero,
A vendor is a Mayor by definition. A vendor has taken over the city in the deafening absence of substantive His Worship the Mayor.
