Lilongwe to chill with Carlsberg street party
All is set for the Lilongwe Carlsberg Street Party which will take place on FridayFriday sunset to Saturday morning along the Independence Drive.
Carlsberg Malawi Communications Officer Towera Pilling said the street part has been organised to celebrate 50 years of independence.
“Carlsberg has been in Malawi since 1968, 4 years after our countries Independence. Carlsberg 50 Street Party celebrates landmark initiatives such as Carlsberg’s launch of Malawi National Team sponsorship, the launch of the Limited Edition label for the national celebrations as well as Malawi’s talent in traditional, local and urban music.”
“Carlsberg Street Party boasts a line-up of Malawi’s finest musicians Black Missionaries, Anthony Makondetsa, Lucious Banda, Skeffa Chimoto, Lulu, Mizu Band and Gwamba who will perform throughout the night,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Carlsberg Chill DJs grand finale will be one of the highlights at the Street Party, where the 2014 edition winner will be crowned.
Six DJs, Patrix and Maya from Lilongwe, Mzuzu’s Earn the DJ and Mwini as well as Crystal and Trick from Blantyre will battle it out for the two big prize.
The top prize is an all expenses paid up trip to South Africa with a master class DJ Oskido and a K600 000 (US$1 446) cash prize.
On health and safety, Pilling said beverages will be consumed in plastic cups in order to avoid incidences with broken glass.
Carlsberg is working with Malawi Police Service and privately hired security to ensure
safety and order at the function.
