Lilongwe to host Malawi Carlsberg Cup final December 8

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) who are the main organisers of the Carlsberg cup have finally set Saturday December 8, 2012 as the day for the 2012/13 Carlsberg Cup finals.

The battle will be between Lilongwe based Police outfit Blue Eagles and Blantyre based Escom United.

According to FAM General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, the game will be played at Civo stadium.

“The Football Association of Malawi would like to announce that the 2012 edition of Carlsberg Malawi cup will be played on 8th December 2012 at Civo stadium in Lilongwe” said Nyirenda in a statement made available to Nyasa Times.

He ssured the fans of maximum security and entertainment as there will also be several activities before the game which will kickoff at 2:30pm.

“Fam is calling upon all soccer lovers to come and see the giants battling it out in the finals,” said Nyirenda.

“Several activities have been lined up. There will be total entertainment and as usual, Carlsberg Malawi will bring more goodies including how the cup will be brought to the stadium” adds Nyirenda in the statement.

There will also be a parade from the police band.

Carlsberg Malawi cup final was supposed to be played on December 1 but was shifted because the teams involved contributed some players to the Malawi national soccer team which was participating at the CECAFA tournament in Uganda.

The winner of the 2012/13 Carlsberg cup will pocket a hooping K7 million.
