Lucius Banda releases Christmas song ‘Wabadwa’
Fresh from South Africa where he had a series of shows and signed a music deal; Balaka-based musician Lucius Banda has released a new Christmas song titled ‘Wabadwa’.
The track, which is available for free downloads online, came out on Friday and is expected to start getting full airplay on Malawi’s radio stations on Monday December 23, 2013.
‘Wabadwa’ was produced and recorded by renowned Malawian music producer, Ralph Ching’amba, at his Ralph Records studios in Namiyango, Blantyre.
The music icon, who is popularly known as ‘Soldier’, told Nyasa Times in an interview on Saturday that he felt obliged to do a Christmas song to express gratitude to his fans.
“I had to do this as an appreciation to my fans. People have supported me so much this year. And God has really blessed me this year,” said Lucius.
He further said apart from giving his fans the new song, he will have a series of shows around the country to say “thank you to the people” for their support.
Lucius also disclosed that on Christmas day, he intends to visit the sick at Mbera Health Centre in the remote area of Balaka to give back to the people.
This year, the artist who is also a businessperson and politician, also released his 17 album titled ‘Time’, which has popular tracks such as ‘Paulendo’ and ‘Usaope Akatchena’.
