CRBSC General Secretary Allie Mwachande confirmed the development in an interview with Nyasa Times .

According to Mwachande, the live musical fundraising show is scheduled to take place at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on 29th May, 2016 is aimed at raising funds for the regional league.

Lucius Banda and his Zembani Band together with Nepman of the ‘Nalero’ fame will entertain the fans.

“The aim of the show is to raise funds for the regions’ league which starts in August this year which have in the past been funded by Football Association of Malawi  but we have thought of raising funds on our own this year,” Mwachande said while calling upon well wishers to support the show.

Mwachande said it is the dream of the current CRBS Committee to have a stable and permanent beach soccer league in the region.

He however thanked Fam and government for providing assistance in funding beach soccer through the Presidential Initiative in Sports (PIS) initiative.

Mwachande revealed that for a start, their target is to raise about K1 million for the league through various activities.

“We will engage so many activities but as of now we are targetting to have K1 million,” said Mwachande while calling for support from the corporate world.

He said his committee is doing everything possible to turn the mindset of Malawians who think beach soccer is played just for fun and social but rather regard it as a professional sport just like in other countries.

Meanwhile, Mwachande has called upon beach soccer lovers from lakeshore districts to establish more teams in readiness for the central region beach soccer league that will run between August and December.
